Laurel Ridge Sport Horses, LLC is the realization of Laura's childhood dream to own and operate a show horse stable. Born and raised in Washington D.C., she rode in Virginia as a Junior and Amateur and entered the "A" show circuit under the tutelage of Bill Moroney, who guided her to many championships and year end accolades in the Hunters.
In 1993 she left the east coast to attend Reed College in Portland, Oregon as a Political Science major. By 1997, it had become evident that she wanted to pursue a career with horses, so she left Reed to take a position with an East Coast "A" show barn. She traveled with them to work at the Hits Indio Desert Circuit, which is where she discovered her love for the Pacific Southwest. Laura decided to remain in the San Diego area, and worked for several years out of Rancho Santa Fe and and San Marcos with an amazing group of families and young riders at Avalon Hunter/Jumpers before moving to Temecula in 2001.
In 2002, she decided to make Temecula Wine Country her permanent home and purchased a 15 acre piece of land, opening Laurel Ridge Sport Horses, LLC along with her Texas-based partner. After five long years of negotiating with the County of Riverside, she finally obtained permits to build the facility in 2007, and has been living her dream of importing, showing, and selling horses ever since.
She has ridden under and gained invaluable experience in the horse industry from some of the Nation's top trainers such as Dianne Grod, Bernie Traurig, Paul Haunert, Susan Hutchison, Joe Thorpe, Keri Kampsen, Niki Zamora, and Liz Hutchinson. These mentors have each contributed to her countless championships and multiple Horse of the Year awards, and have fueled her desire to continue to learn and compete in the Hunter/Jumper Discipline, as well as pursue an understanding of the basics of Dressage.
